Niger State
Planning Commission
The Niger State Planning Commission is established by the Niger State Planning Commission Law of 2011.
The commission oversees the planning programs of both state and local governments in alignment with the state’s vision of becoming one of the top three economies in Nigeria. It serves as the custodian of the state’s planning documents and advises on overall economic management. Additionally, it oversees economic cooperation, aid, and project monitoring. The policy thrust emphasizes establishing credible planning and budgeting systems, mobilizing alternative financing, developing statistical frameworks, implementing performance-based monitoring and evaluation, and ensuring compliance with fiscal and procurement laws.
Vision
Ensuring good governance for the sustainable development of Niger State through sound economic policies for effective, efficient, and equitable management of resources backed by evidence-based planning processes in the state.
Mission
To be one of the most responsive state Planning Commissions in Nigeria, driven by effective and efficient mobilization and allocation of resources for the sustainable development of Niger State.
Our Core Values
We believe great work comes from a strong set of values.
Integrity
Steadfast adherence to a strict moral or ethical code whereby all actions are consistent with ethical principles such as sincerity, honesty, and impartiality. The quality of being honest, sincere, impartial, and strong about what you believe to be right. As an organization critically dependent on taxpayers’ money, integrity is essential in managing our resources.
Teamwork
The act of a group of people working effectively and efficiently together towards a common goal through collaboration, information sharing, and productive interactions. Teamwork promotes synergy, which enhances productivity.
Professionalism
Exhibiting expertise, quality, and professional ethics in the discharge of assigned duties.
Gender Sensitivity
Ensuring gender equity (i.e., being fair to women and men according to their respective needs) and gender equality (i.e., equally valuing the similarities and differences between men and women and the roles they play as partners in their homes, communities, and societies).
Practical demonstrations of gender equity and equality manifest inequality under the law, equal opportunity, and equal access to human, financial, and other productive resources.
About Our
Leadership
My job is ‘easy’ – I mostly think.
“I think some of the greatest challenges we face as leaders in Nigeria are how to build trust in a system with so much baggage, how to navigate through the political economy of things without compromising on our core values, and how to manage the expectations of our people considering the massive gap in development and public service delivery.”
